Motorways/Dua Carriagewaysl

Motorway/Dual Carriageway driving

As of 4th June'18, a learner driver is allowed to practice on motorways.  They must be accompanied by an Approved Driving Instructor and the vehicle must be fitted with dual controls.  This is to ensure that activities are controlled as safely as possible.

Within the Dundee area, we are lucky enough to have the Kingsway which can be used to replicate a simple 2 lane Motorway for basic training purposes.  The nearest 'real' M'way is at Perth at the Frierton Bridge.  This would require a lesson of at least 2/3 hrs in length to teach correctly.  For multi-lane M'ways, the nearest area is towards Glasgow needing around 5 to 6 hrs to go there, practice and then return.

If you feel nervous about travelling on fast motorways either as a learner or full licence holder, dual carriageways and country roads, then we can help here too.

Most people build up a fear about these things through a bad experience either personally or through a third party.  This then creates a" wee monster" and generally puts people off going where they really want to actually go!

Claypotts and Dryburgh can taylor make a confidence boosting course helping you overcome fears about your ability

to understand and cope with these different types of road network.

Please just ask, most people see a huge difference after just a few hours behind the wheel.

A 2 hour lesson manual/auto is £80.

A 5 hour lesson manual/auto £200.
